Justin Pollard is an appellate litigation attorney with the firm of Bergmann and Moore LLC. Justin brings to the JLL Advisory Board both considerable knowledge of court process as a former Court Clerk and Appellate Court Attorney.  As a formerly incarcerated person, he also brings to PLAN his extensive insights about the legal needs, priorities and challenges of imprisoned pro se litigants. Following Justin’s release from prison, he completed his law degree magna cum laude at Widener University Delaware Law School. During his time at Delaware Law School, Justin served as an intern for the Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court of Delaware. He was among the top 5% of his law school class, which led to an invitation to the Law Review and his receipt of the 2018-2019 Josiah Oliver Wolcott Fellowship. As a Wolcott Fellow, Justin served as a Law Clerk to Justice James T. Vaughn in the Supreme Court of Delaware. In that role, he performed legal research on issues heard before the Delaware State Supreme Court and produced legal memoranda for review of issues that were argued before the Court. 

 

Following his graduation from law school, Justin served as an Appellate Court Attorney for the Supreme Court of New York Appellate Division, Third Department. In that capacity, he performed legal research and analyzed legal issues for the Appellate Court. He also drafted legal research reports that contained jurisdictional statements, statements of fact, discussion of the relevant law and provided recommendations. As an Appellate Attorney for the Court, Justin also managing a case docket of 40-50 clients and edited legal memoranda prior to their publication. As a member of the JLL Advisory Board, Justin brings important Court and prison insights and experience.  He assists the team in developing JLL strategy and legal materials that will help incarcerated pro se litigants self-advocate in courts of law.
