PLAN SUMMER 2024 LAW CLERKSHIP PROGRAM

PLAN is currently accepting applications for 2024 Summer Law Clerkships.

Summer 2024 PLAN Law Clerks will:

1. Participate as fully integrated members of legal teams to investigate conditions of confinement complaints, complete legal research and writing as to incarcerated individuals' civil rights and dignity rights, and help advocate for corrective action.

2. Collaborate with a national team of PLAN partners to notify eligible incarcerated and formerly incarcerated voters ("system-impacted voters") of their voting rights under the law and assist them in overcoming barriers they encounter when exercising these rights.  This assistance will involve working under the supervision of PLAN attorneys - and in close coordination with attorneys from PLAN partners such as the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Campaign Legal Center, The Sentencing Project, and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers - to:

    • complete legal research to determine system-impacted voters' voting eligibility;
    • develop written analysis that advises system-impacted voters of recent changes in law that affect their voting rights; and
    • help eligible incarcerated and formerly incarcerated voters overcome barriers they encounter in the exercise these rights, including assistance with the rights restoration process if necessary.

3. Advocate on behalf of incarcerated victims of staff sexual abuse and help advance PLAN's agenda for reform as to the implementation of the Prison Rape Elimination Act.
